SP-1 Project

Wearable Sensor Charging Case with Data Sync

SP-1 designed and built a custom wearable sensor charging case for Sportable Technologies, enabling up to 50 player tags to be transported, charged and synced from a single integrated system. Built for elite sports environments, the case reduces manual handling, removes cable clutter and helps teams prepare wearable devices quickly between training sessions, matches and live performance analysis.

Client

Sportable Technologies develops wearable sensor systems for real-time sports performance tracking, helping teams capture live data from players during training and matchday environments.

Objective

Sportable needed a compact, field-ready system that could store, protect, charge and update a fleet of wearable player tags. The system had to support rapid turnaround between uses, reduce manual handling and remain practical for transport between venues.

Challenge

Wearable sports sensors need to be charged, stored and reconfigured quickly. Loose chargers, exposed cables and manual handling create avoidable delays and increase the risk of damage or misplaced devices.

The system needed to:

  • hold up to 50 wearable player tags securely
  • charge every device at the same time
  • flash data to all devices through a single connection
  • protect sensitive electronics in transit
  • remain compact enough for regular team travel
  • be simple for staff to use under time pressure

Solution

SP-1 engineered a rugged, portable charging and sync platform tailored to Sportable’s wearable sensor ecosystem.

The final system combined secure transport, charging infrastructure and data connectivity inside a compact wheeled case. Each player tag slots into a dedicated dock, allowing fast loading and removal while keeping every device organised and protected.

Key features included:

  • rugged waterproof transport case
  • capacity for up to 50 wearable sensors
  • slot-based docking system for quick device handling
  • simultaneous charging for all 50 devices
  • concurrent data flashing through a single USB connection
  • integrated power distribution
  • single mains input
  • internal protection with RCD and fused supply
  • IP65-rated protection
  • airline-compatible form factor with wheels and telescopic handle

Outcome

The finished case gave Sportable a repeatable, reliable workflow for managing wearable player sensors at scale. Devices can be transported securely, charged together and prepared quickly before the next session. The result is a cleaner operational setup, reduced turnaround time and greater confidence that every sensor is ready when the team needs it.
