SP-1 Project
Connected Safety Charging Station
Client
Wearable Technologies, developing body-worn health and safety monitoring devices for construction environments.
Objective
Design a freestanding system to securely store, charge and manage up to 100 wearable safety devices, while enabling continuous data collection and network monitoring within a site office.
Challenge
Construction environments require robust, high-capacity charging solutions that can handle daily use, poor conditions and non-technical users. The system needed to manage large-scale device charging, maintain reliable connectivity for data upload, and present clear system status, all within a compact and durable footprint.
Solution
SP-1 designed and manufactured a fully integrated charging and connectivity station, combining custom metalwork, power distribution and embedded electronics into a single freestanding unit.
- Custom metal enclosure and structural design for durability
- Integrated power distribution and USB charging circuits for 100 devices
- Dedicated device bays for secure storage and organisation
- Built-in 4G and Wi-Fi router for data collection and sync
- Custom OLED display with bespoke code for real-time network status
- Freestanding form factor with mobility for flexible deployment
Outcome
Delivered a scalable, reliable system that simplifies device management and ensures consistent charging and data capture. Site teams can deploy, monitor and maintain large fleets of wearable devices with minimal setup and reduced operational risk.
